New Delhi: New medical technologies have made the treatment of blood cancer far more effective and accessible, according to doctors at Dharamshila Narayana Hospital. The hospital organised a special media interaction today, focusing on childhood cancers and advanced methods used in the treatment of blood-related disorders.
During the session, specialists from the hospital highlighted how innovative therapies such as Immunotherapy, CAR-T Cell Therapy, and advanced Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) techniques are transforming paediatric cancer care in India.
Sharp Rise in Childhood Blood Cancer Cases
Experts noted that nearly 40% of all childhood cancer cases reported in India are blood cancers, making it one of the most serious health concerns for children. They emphasised the need for timely diagnosis, greater awareness, and communication about high treatment-success rates in paediatric cancers when detected early.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Sunil Bhat, Vice Chairman of the Oncology Collegium at Narayana Health, shared his extensive experience in advanced transplant technologies.
“My focus has been on bone marrow transplantation for children suffering from thalassemia, sickle cell anaemia, leukemia, and other paediatric cancers,” he said. “CAR-T Cell Therapy is now proving extremely useful in cases where the disease relapses frequently or does not respond to conventional treatments.”
Dr. Bhat added that he has successfully treated more than 2,500 children through bone marrow transplants, many of whom are now leading healthy lives. “We are also performing haplo-identical or half-matched transplants with high success rates. These new technologies are making treatment safer and more effective for children,” he said.
